UPCOMING FLU SHOT CLINIC FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has again recommended that all children should receive vaccination against Seasonal Influenza and H1N1 (swine flu).  Luckily this year, one shot will cover both!

Students who got the 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine should still receive the 2010-2011 vaccine.  Getting the vaccine as soon as it is available will provide protection if the flu season comes early.  Influenza can occur at any time, but most outbreaks occur from November through May.  Adults and older children need one dose of influenza vaccine each year.  It takes up to 2 weeks for protection to develop after the shot and portection last about a year.

Maine General is again offering to hold this Seasonal/H1N1 clinic in our school and we have agreed to work with them.  Please note that we will only be able to vaccinate students who are in school on the day of the clinic.

This clinic will take place in the Middle School gymnasium on Friday, October 1st, 2010 for both middle and high school students.

The clinic will be held during the normal school day.  If you are interested in your child receiving the combine Seasonal/H1N1 vaccine at school, at no cost to your family, please complete the Permission Form and return it to us by SEPTEMBER 15th.

If you have any questions, please contact your school nurse.  Middle School, 685-3128 x451 or High School, 685-4923 x318,
